~an imperfect life is a beautiful life~

Dear You,

It’s okay that you don’t have your life together. I promise. It’s okay that you barely finish tasks right before the deadline, and that you don’t wash your hair everyday. It’s normal to feel like everyone else has their lives together and that yours is falling apart.

Live life at your own pace. Just because he has his multi-million dollar business by the time he’s 25, and she’s married with a baby on the way does not mean that you are behind. You are living your life which is separate from everybody else’s. You don’t have to be fulfilled yet. You don’t have to be successful yet. You will have much more meaningful stories than anybody who is living their normal lives.

Live for yourself. You don’t have to please everyone. This does not mean to purposefully be against others. It means to simply be for-yourself. If you don’t feel like going to that party; you’d rather stay in and drink alone, then don’t go. If they get upset because you prioritized yourself, then who are they to be significant in your life? Let others prioritize themselves, and you should prioritize your self.

Live while you can. Don’t let your introverted-ness take over too much. If your friends have invited you to five parties, and you’ve turned down four, go to the fifth. Get out of your cage while you can. Break the nasty habit of saying no to absolutely everything, but don’t feel like you have to say yes to just anything. Find a balance. You can go have extraverted fun for a few hours, and if you aren’t enjoying yourself, leave. Say that you tried. Don’t feel like you have to stay for the entire party. You don’t. But go while you can. One day, you’ll have kids and too many obligations that will leave you wishing you could go out. Go out now so you can look at pictures during those future busy days.

Live freely. Don’t let the rules of the world restrict you from being fulfilled. Rules are there to guide you and should be taken to heart. However, just like music theory, the knowledge is there to guide you and enhance your capabilities. Once you know the rules and respect the rules, break the rules because it sounds good. Life doesn’t have be lived by the book. When you know what the book says and you respect what it has to offer, then you can break the rules without rebelling against them. That’s the most beautiful art.

It’s okay to not be perfect. It’s okay to feel flawed. Keep going anyway. Love yourself anyway. The truest form of love is that of someone who sees another imperfectly and loves them anyway. Be that person for yourself. You deserve unconditional love.

From,

Me
